The game is free and supported by ads. You do not need an account, and the game has no real-money purchases or game server. The only data we receive ourselves is a small set of anonymous gameplay counts, described below.
Your saved game and Android backup
The game saves your progress and settings on your device. This includes gold and gems, upgrades, unlocked orbs, chapter progress, best depths, play statistics, daily rewards, chest timers, ad reward/cooldown counters, tutorial progress and language, sound, music, vibration and aiming preferences. It also saves an unfinished run so you can resume it.
The game uses Capacitor Preferences under shatterdeep.profile.v1,
shatterdeep.run.v1 and shatterdeep.stats.v1 (the day you installed the game, the
last day it was counted, and gameplay counts waiting to be sent). We do not receive
these saves. Android Auto Backup is enabled:
depending on your device and backup settings, Android may copy this information
to your own Google backup and restore it when you reinstall or change devices.
We cannot access that backup. See Android's Auto Backup information.
Anonymous gameplay counts
To learn whether the game is fun enough to come back to, the game sends us a few anonymous gameplay counts. They contain no identifiers: no name, account, device ID, install ID, advertising ID or other ID, and they are not linked to you. Each count is one of these events, with the game's version number:
- A day played: sent once per calendar day you open the game, with how many days ago you installed it (0 to 30) and the week you installed it.
- A run ended: the mode and chapter, how deep it got (rounded to 5), whether it was won, and whether it was your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or a later run.
- Milestones: your first orb evolution, and the first time you clear a chapter, with which run it happened on.
- Daily missions and the weekly expedition: that a mission was claimed (with how many of the day's missions are now claimed) or an expedition run started.
- Rewarded videos: that one was watched, and for which reward (for example a revive or double gold).
The game keeps these on your device and sends them in small batches over an encrypted connection to a counter we run on Cloudflare Workers. Like any internet request, the request reaches Cloudflare with your IP address; our counter does not record the IP address, browser or device details. It stores only the fields listed above, plus the time each batch arrived (to the second): counts sent together in one batch, or in batches that arrive in the same second, share that time and can be grouped by it; nothing else links one batch to another. Cloudflare processes the requests for us as a service provider; see Cloudflare's privacy policy. We use the counts only to understand and improve the game (analytics), we do not share or sell them, and they are kept for up to three months.
Google advertising and privacy choices
The game uses Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. It shows ads between runs and lets you choose rewarded videos for game benefits. Google collects and shares these data categories:
- Approximate location: your general area inferred from your IP address.
- App interactions: launches, taps, video views and privacy-message interactions.
- Diagnostics: app/SDK loading, hangs and energy/performance measurements.
- Device or other IDs: advertising ID, app set ID, publisher first-party ID and applicable device/account-linked identifiers.
Google uses these categories for advertising, measurement and analytics, and fraud prevention, security and compliance. Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) also uses privacy interactions to request and record your choices so the privacy controls work. Google and advertising partners receive data as part of ad serving; apart from the anonymous counts above, we do not operate our own player analytics, and we run no crash-reporting service. See Google's Android SDK disclosure, publisher first-party ID guidance and privacy messaging information.
Google encrypts SDK transfers in transit using TLS. We do not treat this processing as temporary, memory-only processing. The game starts the SDK automatically and has no worldwide switch that stops all SDK data collection. Rewarded videos are optional, and you can continue playing without watching them. The Android advertising ID itself is optional through Android's ad controls; other SDK IDs and the broader data categories can still be processed.
UMP checks whether a privacy message is required at startup. For players in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's configured message offers choices about advertising data use where required. From the home screen, open Settings → Ad privacy → Options to revisit or withdraw choices when Google requires this option. Google determines whether to show that button. Withdrawing personalization consent does not necessarily stop all ad processing or delete previous records. See Google's UMP disclosure and consent guidance.
You can also use Android's advertising settings to reset or delete your advertising ID where supported. Menu names vary by device. These controls affect the ID's future use; they do not erase data Google already holds. See Google's advertising ID controls.
Google's Privacy Policy and explanation for partner apps describe its handling of information, including processing outside your country. If you follow an ad to another app or website, that provider's privacy policy applies.
Children
Shatterdeep is intended for players aged 13 and over, rather than children under 13. The game does not ask for age and does not apply a child-directed or under-age ad mode. A 13+ audience statement does not verify a player's age or establish their ability to consent under local law. Contact czechmaciej66@gmail.com if you believe a child has provided personal information through the game.
Retention and deletion
Your profile stays on your device until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the game. The game replaces or removes saved runs as you play. In Android Settings, open Apps → Shatterdeep → Storage → Clear storage to remove local saves and SDK preferences. This resets your progress. Android may restore backed-up data later; manage or remove backups separately through your device/Google backup controls.
The anonymous gameplay counts are deleted automatically after three months. Because they carry no identifier, we cannot find, show or delete the counts that came from your device; clearing storage or uninstalling stops any further counts.
Google and ad partners set retention periods for their records under their policies. We do not promise a fixed retention period or automatic deletion within 90 days. Changing consent, clearing storage or uninstalling does not delete data already sent to them. The game has no account and no developer-operated mechanism to delete Google's collected records. Use Google's privacy controls and contact options for requests about data it holds.
If you email us, we receive your email address and what you send. We use this to answer your request and keep the correspondence for as long as needed to handle it and any applicable recordkeeping obligations. This is separate from the game's automatic SDK transfers; please avoid sending unnecessary personal details.
Your rights and contact
Depending on where you live and the applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal data, restrict or object to its use, withdraw consent, and complain to a data protection authority. Write to czechmaciej66@gmail.com about our handling of your information. We cannot retrieve your device save or promise to erase records held independently by Google or ad partners; we can explain the available controls and help direct your request.
Changes to this policy
We will publish updates at https://shatterdeep.pages.dev/privacy/ and change the effective date. For material changes, we will provide notice in the app or through an updated privacy message as appropriate.
